Still No Respect for Gays and ‘Third Gender’ People as Equal Citizens in Nepal
Op-Ed
By Sunil Pant
Like many marginalized and voiceless Nepali people, homosexuals and third genders fought against autocracy and took to the streets for democracy in 2006. Now democracy has prevailed in Nepal. But many gay men and women still remain without any rights—and many ‘third genders’ are either compelled to carry a wrong citizenship ID or are denied any recognition as citizens of Nepal at all.

Travel Diary: Visions of Vietnam
Part One: Hong Kong to Saigon
By Tajamika Paxton
I've been wanting to travel in general and, specifically to see Vietnam since my work on the 2000 film Green Dragon. I'm en route to Asia. As the sun rises outside my window seat just beyond the wings of this massive plane on which I find myself, I'm grateful. Grateful that life seems to turn out and that what we need can appear moments before we think it's never going to reach us.

Landmark Guide to Gay and Lesbian Life in 16 Asian Countries
First compendium of Asia's homosexual sub-cultures
Asia is often assumed, incorrectly, to be inhospitable to homosexuality. On the contrary, despite lingering colonial-era laws, political opportunism and panic perpetuated by non-indigenous religions, Asia is rich in its varieties of sexual expression. For the first time, the region's homosexual subcultures have been collected in a single volume to illustrate a surprisingly widespread gay scene.
